Attractions in
and around Shropshire
We are so lucky at Dovecote Grange because our lovely
home is surrounded by even more beautiful countryside. Whether
you are a sightseer, a walker, or have simply come to
relax and recharge we are sure that you will not be disappointed.
Shropshire is blessed with many important historical
sites that can be visited all year round. Possibly
one of the country’s most significant is the Ironbridge
Gorge World Heritage site, birthplace of the industrial
revolution, situated on the banks of the River Severn
in Telford. It boasts many working museums which
allow you to step back in time and experience a bygone
era.
Alternatively you may wish to go further back in time
and visit one of our many castles, for example Ludlow,
Shrewsbury, Stokesay or over the border to Powys. Ludlow
castle is also host to the famous annual arts festival
which takes place in July.
Some other sites of
interest include the ruined abbeys of Buildwas and Haughmond,
the significant Roman ruins at Wroxeter and also nearby
the National Trust estate of Attingham Park. Whilst at
Wroxeter why not check out the vineyard and perhaps sample
and purchase a bottle of two of their award winning wines!
