Attractions in
and around Shropshire
For the shopaholics amongst you there are many pretty
market towns that are still lively and busy today – Bridgnorth,
Much Wenlock, and Oswestry to mention a few. The
jewel in the crown of course is the county town of Shrewsbury
with its medieval inheritance and abundance of Elizabethan
buildings. Its narrow cobbled streets and passageways
are home to a delightful array of individual shops and
restaurants for that unique gift or special evening out. Shrewsbury
offers far more than a shopping experience; it is encircled
by the river where, on a summer’s day, you can
enjoy boat trips or picnic in the lovely Dingle Gardens
on the banks of the Severn.
Telford is a ‘new town’ and its smart modern
Town Centre is defined by tall elegant glass office facilities
and a spacious, impressive shopping centre, with all
the major high street names under one roof. Whilst
at the Town Centre please take the opportunity to make
a family visit to the excellent, award winning Town Park
which is marvellous for children of all ages and includes
the Wonderland Experience for the younger children and
challenging play park for the older ones. There
is also an ice rink and ten pin bowling and multi screen
cinema. The Telford International Centre hosts
many interesting exhibitions and sporting events throughout
the year.
There are many other places to visit and interesting
events throughout the year but we hope that the above
has given you a flavour of what this area has to offer.
