"Beautiful
countryside, important historical sites, Castles and
Museums, Shropshire has an enormous amount to give and
even more for you to discover." |
Attractions in
and around Shropshire
Shropshire,
being predominately a rural county, is the home of several
large agricultural shows, for example Newport, Burwarton
and the renowned West Midlands Show. The
annual Shrewsbury Flower show, held in mid August, is
always a special day out. In addition there is
the working farm museum of Acton Scott, and Hoo Farm
Animal Kingdom where you can place a bet on your favourite
sheep for the next sheep steeplechase.
If the countryside is your preference the clean fresh
air and splendour of the South Shropshire Hills are a
delight for the walker. You will be well rewarded with
stunning views from the tops of, for example, the Clee
Hills, the Long Mynd at Church Stretton, Wenlock Edge
and the Stiperstones. A trip to Shropshire is not
complete without a short hike to the top the Wrekin which
on a clear day boasts magnificent far reaching views
across the north Shropshire plain. We are also
within a short driving distance of the spectacular Welsh
mountains for the more ambitious adventurer.
